Fall 2025
Use the Master Game Schedule spreadsheet during fall/spring seasons to manage home game schedule requests and update your game schedules for trainer availability transparency. To request a game change, comment on the game’s row in the spreadsheet and our field assignor will try to accommodate.
Use the Training Schedule as a reference for club-wide training times/locations.

Game Day Information
Team documents
Always have printed copies of your player cards, official roster and medical release forms at games and tournaments.
Match cards
Print match cards via GotSport to have at every league game. Do this via Team Management > Matches > Print Match Card in the menu that appears when clicking the three dots next to the game details.
Referee fees
You're responsible for half the ref fee on game day, while opponents are responsible for the other half (for NPL leagues, the home team pays in full). Ref fee amounts per league:
Mid-New Jersey ref fees

Corner flags
First team to play on a given field needs to pick up from George Amores’ house; last team to play on a given field needs to return back to George Amores’ house - 169 Ueland Road (close to Normandy Park).
Game balls
Typically provided by home team trainer from their ball bag; ensure there’s a suitable ball to use for home games.
Uniforms
The general guideline is that home jerseys are white and away jerseys are navy. When conflicted, home teams are required to change (away teams for NPL leagues), so a good rule to follow is for players to have each kit with them at every game. Goalies should wear an MUSC-branded goalie jersey to properly represent the club; goalie jerseys branded by another club or academy are unacceptable.
Inclement weather
Our general club rule (and a benefit of our turf fields) is that we play unless there is thunder/lightning or heavy rain/wind that would make it markedly detrimental or unsafe to play. Shall there be a board-decided club-wide cancellation or postponement, we intend to send messages by 8:00 am on game days and by 4:00 pm on training days. This is subject to change dynamically as weather changes occur throughout a given day.
Grace periods
Refs and away teams have 30 min grace period to arrive, home teams have 15 minutes. If a ref is not present at game time, contact George Amores who will try to track them down; if a ref is not present after 30 minutes, either agree in writing for a willing spectator to ref the game or reschedule the game.
Sideline etiquette
Please be diligent in managing your own behavior on the sideline as well as helping manage parent behavior; this continues to be a major topic in league meetings in terms of ref shortages and they ask all of us on the front lines to help.
Incidents and injuries
Refs are required to document these on match cards and report them to the leagues so it’s a good idea to confirm this will be done after the game; please also notify the board if there are any game incidents so we are aware.
Scoring input
Add scores into GotSport by the Monday after games.
Team Manager FAQs & Guidelines
-
It's critical to understand Team Manager expectations and how the role differentiates from a trainer's responsibilities. The TM role centers primarily around managing a team’s administrative functions and is critical to each team’s experience.
Access our one-page Team Manager Responsibilities Guideline here ➔
-
There's coordination required across opponents, trainers and field assignors in order to schedule games and you should be communicating promptly with opponents via the online GotSport platform throughout the process.
For technical steps on how to use GotSport, refer to our Standard GotSport Platform Functions Guide ➔
All games
Align with your trainer on their availability and ensure they're proactively seeking a backup trainer if needed (these instances should be minimal and exceptions only)
Add/update league, scrimmage and tournament games promptly on your TeamSnap calendar and our internal Master Game Schedule > MAKE UPDATES HERE tab
Home games
For changes needed after we post our initial club-wide home game schedule: on our internal Master Game Schedule > Home Game Schedule tab, add a comment noting the request on the Match # cell (column E); our field assignor will promptly reply
Once games are agreed to with opponents and confirmed on our internal Master Home Game Schedule, update the event accordingly in the GotSport calendar
Away games
Respond promptly in GotSport to opponent scheduling requests
Tournaments
Tournaments control and generate their event schedules, so no opponent coordination is needed
Be mindful if your trainer has multiple teams in a tournament and the potential conflicts that could arise - ensure they're proactively seeking a backup trainer should conflicts occur

There are a number of important game-day preparedness considerations to be aware of as a Team Manager.
Please refer to the GAME DAY INFORMATION section above, which lists these need-to-knows.
-
While most MUSC teams play in a handful of tournaments per year, deciding to play in a tournament is left to the individual team discretion since tournament costs are not embedded into our annual tuition fees and are therefore extra costs split between team members.
Pre-tournament
The general guideline is to align with your trainer and team members on which tournament(s), if any, to participate in - deciding early on in a season is recommended; ensure team members are aware that tournament costs are extra
Team Managers are responsible for tournament registration and submitting the team documents required (e.g., player passes, roster, event affirmation, etc.), usually done via GotSport
TMs should ensure tournament games are added to their TeamSnap calendars and our internal Master Game Schedule > MAKE UPDATES HERE tab
Post-tournament
Timing to collect payment from team members is up to the TM but since there is a per game trainer fee, it's normally sensible to collect after the tournament
Your trainer will send you an invoice - preferred payment method is cash or check
NOTE: teams members participating in tournaments share the associated costs (registration fee and trainer fee); guest players helping to fill roster spots should be exempt
Refer to section "5. Registering for Tournaments" for GotSport tips in our Standard GotSport Platform Functions Guide ➔

The field lights at Normandy Park, Nut Swamp Elementary School, Lincroft Acres and Croydon Hall are on pre-set timers managed by the town.
If you have lighting issues at trainings or games, send a chat message on the MUSC Team Managers & MDS Trainers TeamSnap thread and a board member will assist.

Team Manager Responsibilities
The volunteer Team Manager (TM) role centers primarily around managing a team’s administrative functions and is critical to each team’s experience. Follow this guideline to properly fulfill Team Manager responsibilities.
Standard GotSport Platform Functions
Team Managers use GotSport to manage various seasonal functions, like game scheduling and communicating with opponents. Use this guide to learn how to manage typical GotSport functions of a Team Manager.
Club Policies
Team Rostering
NJ Youth Soccer regulations stipulate that players may only be rostered to one team. Those players appearing on the official NJYS roster should generally be the same players representing that team in competition and therefore reflected on the GotSport game day roster. In certain circumstances, however, guest players are permitted as outlined below:
Club Passing
Eligible guest players from MUSC teams may join ("club pass”) for specific games where appropriate, including the following scenarios:
When fielding a full team with ample substitutions is not possible using the team’s official NJYS roster (e.g. due to player injuries, scheduling conflicts, etc.)
To afford players with strong performance on their current team the opportunity to "play up" as a means of recognition and to evaluate potential for play at an elevated level
Eligibility rules for MUSC players club passing are as follows:
Players may “play up” by one birth year
Players may not “play down” by birth year
Premier team players may not “play down” by birth year or by team level (i.e. for Blue, White, or Gold teams)
Any exceptions to the guidelines outlined herein must be formally submitted for MUSC Board of Directors approval via the Club Pass Exception Form below. Requests should be submitted no later than 3 days before the scheduled game for which the request is being made.
Please note that rostering a guest player (whether an MUSC player or external player) to gain an advantage in a league game is not a valid justification for requesting an exception.
